“Fun” - Deki Alem

Stockholm-based twin brothers, Sammy and Johnny Bennett have been rising fast in the world of electronic dance music. I don’t want to say, “EDM” because that pigeon-holes these guys unfairly. What they’re doing is mashing up a variety of different past subgenres in the electronic space, including drum-n-bass, techno, garage, but with hints of grunge and alternative hip-hop. There’s a sense of nostalgia in what they’re churning out, but the production is firmly rooted in today. This track, “Fun,” from Deki Alem’s upcoming debut LP, Forget in Mass, reminds me of late ‘90s rave culture and would fit nicely in the Run Lola Run soundtrack.
