“Funny Music” - Gelli Haha

Gelli Haha is now 2-for-2 on her releases. First up was the delightful “Bounce House” in March 2025. Now comes the frenetic bop, “Funny Music.” Angel Abaya, teaming up with producer Sean Guerin of De Lux, creates a collaboration that reminds me a bit of when Stephani Germanotta teamed up with producer Rob Fusari and created Lady Gaga. Yes, I understand that’s a pretty bold statement, but Angel Abaya has the same amount of talent, charisma, songwriting chops, and well, frankly, It Factor, that Stephani Germanotta had back in 2006. Her collaboration with Sean Guerin is a match made is synthpop heaven, and with her debut LP under the Gelli Haha moniker, Switcheroo, due out in June 27th via Innovative Leisure, there may very well be a Song of the Summer on that album. Or at least my indie pop-leaning heart can dream!
