“Imaginary Boyfriend - Tropical” - Kevin Kenkel

Brooklyn-based Kevin Kenkel has been making wonderful analog synth soundscapes that draw you in and leave you mesmerized. His latest maxi-single, “Imaginary Boyfriend,” consists of six variations on a theme. My favorite of the iterations is the “Tropical” version, which brings to mind some of the best of Tangerine Dream’s groundbreaking work from the 1970s and ‘80s. I know it won’t be long before Kenkel is scoring films just as Tangerine Dream has done, as it just takes one visionary director to team up with this exciting electronic artist.
